Education and Experience

I have over 40 years of experience in counseling adults experiencing change. I use a whole-person approach and work alongside individuals with support and compassion. My goal is to empower everyone I have the opportunity to work with.

I obtained both my graduate undergraduate degrees from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. I also have a diploma in massage therapy from the Health Enrichment Center in Lapeer, Michigan, and a Diplomat Certification in CranioSacral and SomatoEmotional Release Therapies from the Upledger Institute of West Palm Beach, Florida.

I am a Certified Grief Educator, committed to providing the highest level of grief support through education, experience, and insights into the often unacknowledged rocky terrain of grief. 

Treatment Philosophy

My approach to therapy has evolved over the years into a whole-person focus. I work alongside each individual to facilitate a state of awareness, helping them become clear about their emotional reactions to life situations.
 
During each session, I access unique techniques to empower the people I work with, using unconditional support and compassion as therapeutic tools.

I am a Michigan Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and massage therapist, which supports my SomatoEmotional Release work.

For Practicing Therapists

Effective therapy requires therapists to be committed to their ongoing mental health introspection, known as deep internal work.  

By exploring our own inner processes, we can be more present with our clients.  My  emphasis in this area focuses on aspects of the therapeutic relationship where the therapist may be questioning and reviewing their own self-care commitment.

I use Somatoemotional release as well as psychodynamic and feminist psychotherapies to help inform the work we do together.
